I Want to Be Appreciated

What is it that we really want out of life?
Some say, “I want to make an impact”.
Yet others say, “I want to be financially free to be able to travel and explore the world.”
Others say, “I want to grow in the sense that I keep conquering feats I didn’t think myself capable of.”
Some don’t know what to say.
Mine is I want to be able to look into someone’s eyes and laugh with them at how really at the end of the day, no matter how much money we have, who we know, or what we own... people will always tell us what to do, people will always want more and complain on our behalf (at times, sometimes more than usual), we ourselves always want more, we crave safety from negative consequences, death hurts, ridicule hurts... all of us... we want to appear strong, we want to appear tough, we have the same fears, the same desires, the same paradox of what is Love if it is mutually conditional on being pleasing, productive, and harmless for the sake of survival and maintenance of our lives and the lives of others... but that’s what I want to look into people eyes and laugh with them, not at them.

Because really at the end of the day we could travel the world, be rich, and have our material desires met, but when we don’t feel relevant, appreciated, and valued it feels obsolete. I know the saying goes and I myself say, “Don’t worry about what people think, just be you”. But lets face it, we have to live and adjust to the ways of those above us to even have a job, to even maintain an accord.

Craving to be appreciated.... THAT to me.... as it has been said before.... is at the core of what we desire. Acknowledgement, being noticed, sure maybe it is the ego, whether we like it or not, we can suppress it, but it is still there.
