What I'd do with Doctor Who if I was showrunner
With the Chibnall era kinda weak in my opinion compared to RTD and Moffat; (I had so much hope for Chibnall given his proximity to Torchwood but guess not).
I digress; if I was showrunner; I'd start with The Doctor regenerating in The TARDIS but the damage this time destroys the whole machine and The TARDIS consciousness escapes into space. The interior and exterior gets rips apart, it and The Doctor crash-land on Earth causing a massive crater. (The ship actually powers down before hand so it doesn't cause the cracks in time like in the Series 5 Arc.)
Then Captain Jack Harkness and Gwen Cooper leading a new organisation, a collaboration between Torchwood and UNIT arrive at the site, tracking the overwhelming amount of Artron Energy dispersed in the area. (Actually intertwining these characters into the story and not just fan service. Like Revolution Of The Daleks even though I loved seeing Jack again.)
The Doctor would have a troubling time convincing Jack as he wouldn't he'd find The Doctor in the heart of a crater caused by a TARDIS explosion.
Throughout the series, The Doctor working hand in hand with Torchwood and Unit to earn money, gets an apartment in Cardiff, having to struggle living in one place.
Meanwhile The TARDIS Consciousness finds a dying homeless person in London and takes over the body like in Series 6's The Doctor's Wife. However The TARDIS tries to control herself from killing this homeless person as the body still has its body and soul unlike Astrid who had her mind emptied by The House via Nephew The Ood.
By the end of The Series, The Doctor finds The TARDIS's host and both must find a way using the Rift to get back to Gallifrey of the Past and recover a TARDIS plant so they can grow a shell and put The Doctor's TARDIS Consciousness into it.
