I Care About Homeless People

Why do I have to get a permit to feed homeless people? I just found out that if I don't have a permit, I could be fined or arrested. I'm just wondering because I bought a homeless man some food and water yesterday and decided to research what types of food are best to give to homeless people, and then I found out that giving them food without a permit is illegal in my state and other parts of the U.S. I don't want to be fined or arrested just for feeding a hungry person so I guess I'd better get a permit before I do that again.

You need a permit to feed another human being? The law is getting more stupider every time I hear these types of things. ....¬_¬ ....shit I must be breaking the law every day feeding my broke ass brother when he comes over.

@SW-User I'm with you on this! How has it become illegal to feed people??

wtf this is bs. I'm guessing this is based off the sterotype that most homeless are drug addicts. I could see it maybe being a safety issue if a lot of people had gotten hurt by the homeless because one time I gave this old woman money and this other homeless guy followed me for 3 blocks demanding money. This is good to know though I was planning on dropping $500 couple time a month for the homeless if I get the job I applied at. I'd get fired if I got arrested >,<
U researched homeless ppl like pets

Like what food to feed reptiles

But the permit is there to make sure places don't start attracting homeless people to a certain area because of hand outs

It creates certain problems

@terribleperson Oh, I see.

I also researched on what food to give them because I know it's important not to give them perishable food since they may don't have a refrigerator, or servings sizes so big that they can;t stash it and hide it from other homeless folks who'll steal it if they see it.
Hmm makes sense

My guess is that it’s if someone poisons a homeless person, they can be more easily tracked down. I’ve bought food for homeless near me and so far there’s no laws requiring permits but I’m guessing that’ll happen

That rule might be the same where I live, not sure but I usually buy them coffee and a sandwich from a street vendor, I think that should be safe i guess.

That's ridiculous. It's not like you are giving food to someone's pet. They are human beings.

That is bizarre. Bureaucracy to help those in need. SMH.

I think I saw something about how some sick person served cooked dead people to all the homeless... might have been in a movie though, dunno 🤔

They don’t want tent cities
TammieBear · 22-25, F
I can't believe you need a permit to give charity. That seems wrong 😟
MartinTheFirst · 22-25, M
@TammieBear What if someone poisons the food and there's no law in place to capture the potential poisoneers?
Laws like that are pure evil imo.

@SStarfish I agree!

@MURD3RM0NK3Y I know right? It's not like the food was half eaten, spoiled or contaminated. It was fresh, still in it's package, and the water was fresh out of the vending machine. So where's the threat??
