Yasmine could hear the distant pop of fireworks behind her. Everyone was at the show, so her stretch of beach was empty. The breeze carried warmth that clashed with the icy chill of the ocean at her feet.
The city hard largely gone dark for the extravaganza sonher only light was the slim crescent moon adrift in a starless night. She walked until she could the pier and stopped to drop into the sand.
Her body ached from the long trek, but she could still feel where Elspeth had kissed her. Her long lost lover, the one who,had betrayed her. She had found her all this time later and with a few simple words, Yasmine has given herself over to her again.
The salt water crashed up to her thighs, Yasmine stared at the moon. Her hands running over her body thinking of Elspeth.
