Using the Internet without a VPN is like jumping out of a plane without a parachute.

Out of Necessity Learned to HackYears ago lived in a complex which had shared WiFi.
Wondered why I had a frustrating low or no WiFi signal to get on the internet. Since learning never had that problem again and dominated the available WiFi signal.

* With available tools learned my neighbors were downloding torrents and streaming movies which took up most of the WiFi bandwidth.

* In another instance, my neighbor wouldn't subscribe for internet service and was tapping into my WiFi without asking me for permission. I blocked all his IP addresses which rendered his computer useless.

* AMAZON - With knowledge gained started to observe subtle signs that I was being Hacked on site. Removed and prevented any financial information from being leaked.

WOW! 😯 I sure would have loved some tips from you when I needed it to get some hackers off my computer! No one really talks about this much that I'm aware of. I had really needed help for a long time and couldn't find any.😔 I'm not using a vpn because I don't want to pay for one, not to mention putting my credit card out there. I don't order anything on line!

@Peaches aww..,sorry peaches. In today's cashless society one needs to be vigilant and aware.

At the gas station I frequent the clerk tried to pull a fast one on me but I caught her just as she was ending her shift and got my money back.

@eyeno I mostly only use cash!🤑There was a time when that was best.
eyeno · M
@Peaches for the reason I mentioned and taught my son, I'll always ask for a recipt whether cash or not, that's your proof. Without my recipt I wouldn't have gotten my money back.

Yes cash was always better back then.
Very smart thing to do.

I don’t know much about VPN’s other than somebody said that’s how they get around from being banned on here or something to that effect.

@SW-User When I installed a few they wouldn't work correctly?!😔

imo, its silly to torrent through wifi because of loss of bandwidth

as for VPN's in general, they're only as good as the provider, the cheap/free vpn's are mostly a sham (bandwidth restricted, low ip/location "pool", little to no encryption)

In reality, a good VPN is only really effective at preventing your ISP from detecting illegal activity (tormenting/pirating, etc.)

I find it ironic when people say that they do it strictly for an added layer of security when 90% of them don't even bother to setup their routers, restrict access to it/change router login/password (anyone within range of wifi can suck up their bandwidth on guest network, which is on by default on factory settings)

@wildbill83 agreed

@wildbill83 Well we almost have to take a college course to learn how to figure it all out?!😯

First time I hear that vpn is hacking lmao!

Also it doesn't improve connection speed 🤣 that's not how vpn works

@SW-User no...it isn't...it's another form of defense against hackers and trackers...duh!

@SW-User at first I noticed a slow down but I adjusted the settings on my router to compensate for the loss.

@SW-User Ya..., it took me awhile to jump through hoops and find the correct settings because my service provider doesn't like VPN's.
