I Life

What is Life? Webster dictionary defines life as “the ability to grow, change, etc. that separates plants and animals from things like water or rocks.” Life is typically thought of as only including things as biological in origin and nothing else. However when you breakdown life into a subset of criteria interesting things start to emerge. As biological creatures we all have a circulatory system of some kind, we all reproduce and we all take in materials to support the necessary functions to sustain life.
Looking at life in this way we can start to see that life goes far beyond the limited scope we have assigned to it. Breaking life down into its constituents we start to see that many things we consider in animate ob<x>jects could in a theoretical since be considered a live. Cars for example are born in factories, they may be created by humans but they share many similar traits to biological life. Cars have a circulatory system, they have a brain be it a computer brain, they ingest fuel in order to run and have what could be defined as a rudimentary nervous system. Looking at cars in this way as just one example a person could easily start to see similarities to other things.
Our limited view on what we consider life is slowly being chipped away as we come to realize that life can encompass pretty much anything. Looking at life in a different light opens up the door to include pretty much anything from weather, the ocean, the planets, stars and even the universe. In essence life is everywhere. It just takes a broadening of the mind to see it.
