POLICE VIOLENCE IS VIRTUALLY UNCHECKED IN AMERICA (Chris Hedges 10/17)

Police forces in the United States---which, according to The Washington Post, have fatally shot 782 people this year [2017]---are unaccountable, militarized monstrosities that spread fear and terror in poor communities. By comparison, police in England and Wales killed 62 people in the 27 years between the start of 1990 and the end of 2016.

SHAME ON THE USA!!!!!!

That 782 figure is counting self-defense cases though, right? Like, we obviously can't expect police officers to endanger the lives and themselves and civilians in the interest of preventing an attacker's death. While our numbers don't compare favorably with the UK's, the UK is a much smaller country with a much lower rate of gun ownership.
