I Absolutely Love to Read

I am almost finished with a really great book. It is called Legends and Lies of the Civil War by Bill O'Reilly.

4 things stand out about this horrible war

The sheer number of soldiers who lost their lives. I believe it was 3/4 of a million men. I read somewhere that this war lost more men than any other war.

Politics was just as brutal back then as they are now.

The obstacles that Abraham Lincoln overcame is miraculous.

and lastly, the abolishment of slavery.

i highly recommend this book if you like history.

More Americans died in that war. Of course the world wars had other nationalities. Almost as many died at Gettysburg alone than died in the entire Vietnam war. When Lincoln made his famous address there the death was all around, it had to weigh heavy on him.

@lasergraph the polls were divided on this. some claimed rightfully, it was one of his greatest speeches. he followed a gentleman who talked for 2.5 hrs. his was only 4 minutes.

@akindheart Thomas Jefferson said, never use two words when one will do. I am in his corner on that. Padding your message with a bunch of crap doesn't make it better. I personality think it was a remarkable piece.
