I Think I Am Just Going To Write Stuff

Dear white people: please stop apologizing for your race. You're more than the sum of your ancestors decisions.

Dear black people: Stop blaming everything on white people. And quit with the term "people of color". It's a buzzword for black and we all know it.

Dear my people: Never visit the mainland in winter and head to the Midwest. I THINK I'M ABOUT TO DIE.

As a white person, I have never apologized for my race. I never apologize for anyone but myself, and I wasn't consulted about any of the decisions that were made hundreds of years before my birth.

@Serenitree I'm glad to hear some common sense. I've only been here about a week and I've already had white people getting politically correct. They mean well but I really hope it's not a sign of campus life.

@PennyHenny 😏Where are you?

I was raised by people who told me to accept responsibility for anything I did, but never accept blame for anything I didn't do. I took it literally.

@Serenitree In Illinois now, from Hawaii.

@PennyHenny Oh! Yikes. Huge difference in climate. Ouch. Well, invest in some good thermal wear. Socks, undies, mittens. Long thermal underwear. Be very careful not to get frostbite or hypothermia.

@Serenitree Way ahead of you there. I did my move with a mixture of Fed Ex and a small moving van company to zip it over whenever my dorm issue gets fixed. So with the expense I didn't bring much, mostly buying things ad I need and already bought warm clothing. I didn't think about my face tho. I've never actually had snot freeze when it's still in my nose.
Serenitree · F
@PennyHenny Its difficult to protect your face. If you cover your mouth and nose, condensation makes the scarf wet and that freezes. Then you've got ice on your face.
PennyHenny · F
@Serenitree Ugh I'm not going to survive this.
Serenitree · F
@PennyHenny yes you will! And when this deep freeze ends, you may find yourself enjoying the brisk cold mornings. When cold means above freezing.....not deep freeze.

@Serenitree It IS beautiful in its own way. Just between still having jet lag and all these new things going on it's a bit tough to deal with.

I grabbed a handrail tonight and my hand stuck for a few seconds. No one warned me about that one.But I've seen A Christmas Story enough times to know not to lick it so at least I've got that going for me.

@PennyHenny I'm glad you know about that. Here's another. I'll have to tell you the story or you won't know why I say what I'm about to say.

When my kids were still in elementary school they fought me whenever I told them to cover their ears because ears freeze so easily. They'd take the hat off as soon as they were away from the house. One day they met up with a friend who also wasn't wearing a hat. She also happened to be wearing leather mittens which were wet from making snowballs and had frozen. She suddenly cried out and began screaming. Her ears had frozen. Frostbite happens quickly on places like ears and pinky fingers. She had put her free hand up to her frozen ear, with her frozen mitten and when she took her hand away, she removed the whole outer curl of her ear as well as the lobe. That was before they were reattachable.

Never let your ears freeze. If you do, never touch them with leather gloves.

Thanks for the warning! Oh yikes!
