Who invented political racism and class warfare?

Most of this is from History dot com. It's condensed for easier reading. I've added a few of my own thoughts which admittedly are heavily opinionated but I think, useful to the historical context.

..

The Whig Party was a political party formed in 1834 by opponents of Democrats.

The name “Whigs” was derived from the English anti-monarchist party.

The Whigs were one of the two major political parties in the United States from the 1830s to early 1850s.

Democrats painted Whigs as the party of the aristocracy.

The presidents,William Henry Harrison,Zachary Taylor, andJohn TylerandMillard Fillmore, gained office as Vice Presidents when the law was that the second most votes for president won the VP office.

The Whigs were an opposition party formed to challengeJacksonian Democrats, thereby launching the ‘second party system’ in America.

They were theAnti-Masonic Party.

Their base was made up of Christian Protestants interested in moral reform, abolitionists, and those against the harsh treatment ofNative Americans.

In 1830, Democrat president Jackson signed the Indian Removal Act then ignored its agreements when he forced thousands of Choctaw to journey to Indian Territory on foot in what became known as “The Trail of Tears.”

Some Whig leaders used anti- two party rhetoric, though they were very much a political party. On par with the Democrats they opposed. Their diverse base (created as much internal dispute as Trump's Republican leadership.) It was a delicate balancing act.

Whigs were united in their support about main issues. The SecondBank of the United States(an institution Andrew Jackson deplored.) Vocal opponents of Jackson’s propensity for ignoringSupreme Courtdecisions challenging theConstitution.

Whigs generally supported higher taxes, distributing land revenue to the young states and passing relief legislation in response to the financial panic of 1837 - 1839.

They were not yet the official anti-slaveryparty until abolitionists created the Republican party to oppose the pro-slavery Democrats.

Jackson, the Democrat president, as you know, was extremely pro slavery.

It was the issue of slavery that destroyed the Whigs.

Whig Party Leaders

Henry Clay ofKentucky, a former secretary of state, speaker of the house, Abraham Lincoln cast his first presidential vote for Henry Clay in 1832. Though they never met, Clay was Lincoln’s “beau ideal of a statesman.”

Democrats stereotyped them the party of the rich, using the politics of racism and class division to hold power.

Martin Van Burentook theWhite House when Whigs won the popular vote.William Henry Harrisonbecame the first Whig president when he won the 1840 election, but he also became the first president to die in office in 1841, just 31 days into his term. He was succeeded by his vice presidentJohn Tyler. Clay ran and narrowly lost toJames K. Polkin 1844. The second Whig President to be voted into office,Zachary Taylor, won the 1848 election. He also became the second president to die in office, and was succeeded byMillard Fillmore.

Whig Party Downfall and Legacy

By the mid-1850s, tensions were mounting within the party over the divisive issue of slavery. The last straw was the signing of theKansas-Nebraska Actof 1854 overturned theMissouri Compromiseand allowed each territory to decide for itself whether it would be a slave state.

My thoughts-

Anti-slavery Whigs spun off to found theRepublican Partyin 1854 and that issue, United the purpose

Abraham Lincoln, a Republican president deeply inspired by Henry Clay, would win the presidency in 1860 and go on to lead the nation throughCivil War

And that's, the rest of the story.

So far that is....

The Democrats banned the Whig party to keep slavery safe, but it was too late because the GOP (Government of the People) was already coming for them.

Abraham Lincoln, (newly formed party called ...) REPUBLICAN president would win the presidency in 1860 and go on to win the Civil War.

Stand up for freedom. Stand up for Donald Trump.

If you really want to go into this, historical you are far of base. No mention of even the Egyptians much less any other cultures.

Stop using this as an excuse for the current Presidents plans which have been in the works since 2018...
[image/video deleted]

He has been planning this voter suppression ever since 2018!
SteelHands · 61-69, M
@DeWayfarer What's your point?
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@SteelHands reread the edit.
SteelHands · 61-69, M
@DeWayfarer Democrat party used voter suppression, called a poll tax, to hinder the black and Hispanic vote in my lifetime.

Republicans abolished it.

What else you got?
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@SteelHands this is not a party issue. This is a dictator retrying to remain in power since 2018 issue!

This president is a dictator! And knows no political party. He has been trying to overthrow the whole US Constitution!
SteelHands · 61-69, M
@DeWayfarer You mistake my support for the candidate that supports compliance with election law as support for all his policies.

I'm opposed to adding states to shift party advantages.

I'm opposed to late and non conditional changes in election procedures to alter election results.

I'm opposed to so many things the Democrats say they support the candidates themselves are only place holders.

So save your election winner bullshit and make a counterpoint. If you have one.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@SteelHands blind as a bat! 😡🤷‍♂️
SteelHands · 61-69, M
@DeWayfarer If it makes you feel better knowing that the party of slavery, the party of eugenics, the party of abortion, sterilization, miseducation, class warfare, race baiting, sexual distrust, anti family, anti religion, anti law and anti free speech, fear and loathing, war, murder, color revolution, propagandist fake media, the party of Saul Alinskyite revolution, which is PROVEN by its own words, the Democrats, whatever.

You made no counterpoint to my post.

You're a waste of my time.

Goodbye.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@SteelHands then stop replying!
SteelHands · 61-69, M
@DeWayfarer I will reply as I see fit. You have no authority over me.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@SteelHands then you do care and your lying even to yourself!
SteelHands · 61-69, M
@DeWayfarer Don't expect me to care that you're calling me a liar while hiding behind that keyboard.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@SteelHands Now your only trolling, trying to get the last word.

You can have it! Have a nice day troll.
SteelHands · 61-69, M
@DeWayfarer Name calling only makes you look less intelligent.

If that was your point in replying I already figured that out.
