I Wear Short Trousers

There was no compulsion to wear shorts at home but were worn nonetheless as I wanted to. However the reason I wore grey flannel short trousers for meals out etc was that my mother said you can wear long trousers or nicely tailored grey shorts. I just want you to be smart. My choice was to wear grey school shorts as I hated having trousers flapping around my legs.

It depended on the occasion as to what I wore them with. Sometimes polo shirt, other times white shirt tie and blazer. A sort of short trouser suit. My grey flannel shorts were as per the 1970’s very brief. With an inside leg of about one inch. I did get one or two looks wearing them when I was 15-16 but I had athletic tanned legs and my shorts fitted me well and did indeed look very smart.

It's really nice that you were able to appreciate the beauty of shorts at such an early time, when you could still wear shorts in a good looking manner. It was a pity that I was only able to appreciate the shorts after 30s.

@deletedsy Hi I think it was quite early. I can remember to this day how disappointing it was that I had to wear long trousers with my school uniform at secondary school from the age of 11. I was not one of those boys that thought wearing long trousers made me grown up, it was just far more comfortable wearing shorts. I made up for it by wearing shorts all the time at home. I still hate having fabric covering my legs including my thighs. Though I have to at work.
