I Got Sprayed By A Skunk
this was around when i was in 8th grade (14) and we went on a camping ttip that day with me and my friends. we knew this really nice place for camping in these woods and we decided to go independent for the trip. so there were no parents, none of our flip phones (we wanted it so we couldnt communicate with the outside world too seem like we were on our own. idk why) and we were alone together for 2 weeks. we got the normal stuff (tent, sleeping bag, snacks, drinks, ect.) and we were set to have a good time.
we decided to pass time every day we would explore every day in seprate groups (there were trails so we wouldnt get lost) and i decided to be a partner with my friend Sarah the third day. Me and her decided to go further than the other groups have gone and we went far. we started to smell skunk a little and she said maybe we should turn back. i told her that its fine since you can smell them a mile away so that calmed her down. there were lots of forks in the road so we decided to pur stuff down so we wouldnt go the wrong way.
we actually found some cool looking birds, we found a bald eagle nest, and it was pretty fun. but then we heard rustling in a bush by us, we were filled with curiosity and we ran up to it. i whispered at her to be quiet or she will scare it off. she nodded. we looked over the bush and there were two giant SKUNKS fighting. they stopped and turned around at us, and before we could react they whipped their tail and let us have it. they actually got us pretty good and when the smell hit me it was so STRONG! it was a little too strong for me and we were both coughing. i didnt know at the time that skunk spray can actually make it hard to breathe for a little bit and we were freaking out. “what are we going to do?” she asked me. I told her i didnt know since we couldnt call or anything. so we eventually got back and everyone started running and gagging. we had to share a tent together and we stank the whole time and we didnt bring supplies to get the smell off. so two weeks later i finnaly left and the drive home was about 4 hours so it wasnt good for everyone around me. I was so embarrassed at the time lol.
