Is it safe to use earbuds during thunderstroms?

My elders always told me not to use earphones or earbuds during thunderstroms because you could hit by lighting.

I wonder is this true? 馃

@iamelijah well it's complicated because there's so many reasons why it's no that i almost cant be bothered c:

The top of your head is at a higher point than your ears.
The extremely thin copper wire in your headphones are insulated with plastic, and since its so thin it cant carry any load.
The phone which it leads to is in your pocket which keeps it from being in contact with any leading material hence it has nowhere to go.
The lightning would much rather go into your watery salty body.

and you really should learn a little bit about physics...

@MartinTheFirst Thanks for long explanation. I know I never understanding much about physics. Those subjects are too heavy to digest in my head.

@iamelijah much? this is the bare-bones basics, the kind of info you learn to not be classified as a dumbdumb and avoid dying

@MartinTheFirst I'm sorry for not being smart. 馃様
MartinTheFirst26-30, M
@iamelijah again, this is not about being smart, this is about taking a few hours away from your schedule to learn something
iamelijah26-30, M
@MartinTheFirst I meant uneducated.
Not that kind of smart attitude.

Never mind, I don't want to argue.

I'll google myself.
