I Am Pale In a World That Tans

I have that Nordic, pale thing going on. I got that from my mom. I refuse to go tanning because I don't want to age my skin. I wear very effective sunblock on my face everyday. I had freckles when I was younger before I discovered sun protection, but you can only see them if you're inches away from my face. I am jealous of my dad, he has olive skin.

I dot fry if I'm out for a short time like an hour, but if I stand still in direct sun, I will burn. I have tanned (lightly) in the past without burning.

I love pretty far from the pacific so it's usually a 2 hour drive for me. Never have I lived in the east coast. I'd love to, though.

I have always thought pale was beautiful. I'm pale too. :)

I'm pale too, but I don't care. I'd rather be white than sunburnt :-)

Of course! I wear sunscreen everyday on my face.

I've never actually had a sunburn before. I don't know if that's possible for me. I never use sunblock and have spent many hours in direct sunlight while going swimming or hanging out on the beach. My skin can darken slightly, but it's nothing extreme.

I don't even freckle much like the stereotypical Irish. Just a few on my shoulders, then faded ones on my face from the terrible Arizona sun. So. Don't really freckles.

I've tried tan lotions but I found it to much work. Is rather do nothing. If anything, I change my hair color.

Sunblock is or our friend. I'm fair skinned also, but I LOVE being on the ocean. So strong sunblock every time!

The Pacific is soo cold, but I've been brave and have gotten used to it. I went swimming in it last summer.

I wish I lived close to the Atlantic. Both to escape where I am, and have different coasts!

@Acacia Aww, don't feel to bad. Many people find pale to be pretty. So there's that.

No reason to be jealous of dad...spray tan.

Know exactly what you mean. I have suffered all my life from my white skin and i would give anything to make it darker. Would like to enjoy the beach once or just hang around in summer without paying so much attention. Got it from my mum too. Hope my kids will get the olive skin of their mum.

Lucky... I have had a few nasty sunburns

Yup, I've been out there once and you're so right about the Pacific! I live in New England so while our waters aren't exactly warm, they aren't as cold as yours!

I grew up on the coast and have spent my life in, on, or near the water. I can't imagine ever not living on the coast. :-)

Good for you girl. That you make sure you cover your skin well. Of nordic blood as well. And burn like a lobster if i don't put sunblock on
