I Love Trees

The tree cutters came and did it. I was away the whole month and then when I came back, you were gone. They took you and your companion. They left two stumps where both of you stood. It is beyond horror what I saw that morning. It is just as well I will be moving away. It is too painful to see.

The two of you stood outside, gave us shade from the harsh sunlight and gave the birds fruits and shelter. I never knew your name. I googled you based on the bark you had and the fruits you yielded. You must be from the gum tree family, I thought. I made videos when you danced and your leaves sang on windy days. You gave me respite after long hours at work. You just gave of yourself so quietly while others just took and took and took.

These days I keep the curtains drawn. The sun hurts my eyes. Just as well I'm moving away. You are no longer here with me.
I am sorry for your losses. Trees are so important. Studies show they communicate and, among other things, older trees guide and teach younger ones. I hope you feel better soon.

@PoetryNEmotion thank you. I believe they do communicate. And in this urban jungle where I live, they are sorely needed.

That happens here too. I really feel extremely disappointed and sad in seeing perfectly healthy trees felled. They embelish places and allow us to cling on to the remaining nature one csn find in cities.

I HATE it when people cut trees, or bushes. It looks like stupid human vanity to me. A tree takes so long to grow. And then some stupid human being comes and in the name of progress or some crap wants to show he is stronger and cuts it in minutes.

I don't want to thing that one day the same happens to the trees below my house, or on the other side of the river. I would be devastate. They do not only belong to the landscape, but to my emotional landscape too. Their sight has given me calm and solace in times of trouble.

@Cierzo exactly. Human vanity. Always the same stupid excuse - greed masked as 'progress'. People who kill trees should face the same penalties as people who abuse animals.

I completely understand you. I mourn every tree they cut down here. I don’t know how they can do such a thing. My heart goes out to you. 🤗❤️

This happened us recently too , our neighbours cut trees adjoining our properties . They did not even tell us it was going to happen . We walked out and they actually butchered the trees . I felt so upset for the trees the wildlife and really no one seemed to care 😢😢. Also it has left our property with no privacy

@Sunflowerx I don't understand people who cut defenceless trees. They are worse than people who abuse animals.
Trees can offer so much. Everyone keeps telling me to cut down the tree in my front yard bc the roots get in the sewer pipes. But I love my tree...🌳

@DayDreaming2 yes. I have not been well since it happened. It has been three weeks.

I know how you feel. Years ago, I lived in a neighborhood where they cut down a lot of the hundred year old trees. I was the only person protesting.
novembermoon · 51-55
@greenmountaingal people must think I'm crazy to mourn a tree. But I am what I am. Sigh.

Oh no. 😟

I had to take down a 100 year old oak tree and it made me physically ill.
novembermoon · 51-55
@plinkplonk I think there is a lot more in trees and the natural world than we think we know. And the least we can do is to respect it.

Perhaps you can do something to help. For example, help grow some more trees.
