@hippyjoe1955 On balance it was probably a wise move of yours to steer clear of the drugs. I can’t say I regret the experiences I had dabbling in my youth but I am glad it was fairly short lived.

@TopOfTheWorld I was too focused on getting ahead in the military. I didn't make it as a fighter pilot. My left eye let me down but I was a bit of a bushman so I became one of the youngest Commanding Officers in peace time armed forces. Reserves but that was OK. Paid for my university degree.

@TopOfTheWorld It was fun. Every summer teaching air crew how to survive in the bush should their aircraft crash. After a couple of years teaching at the school I was commanding the school. Lots of fun fighting with bears and cougars.

@TopOfTheWorld always. still wanted to fly fighters..... Before I was a CO I served under an interesting officer. He flew Spitfires in WWII. He stayed in the forces after the war was over and rose in the ranks until he was the Commanding Officer that taught the Luftwaffe to fly F 86 Sabres. Fascinating fellow. Very humble.
