I Want to Talk About the Inauguration

Why It Is Important to Me!...
I am one of the many Black people who lived during the unrest, riots and marches of the 50's, 60's, and 70's. I remember what it felt like to be judged solely on the color of my skin. I remember to this day what it felt like to be told to leave a store, resturant, or other public place because I was not even considered as a legal human being.
I remember the prayer and the hope that one day My kind, women and other minorities would have a chance at the American dream just like everyone else. And, today that prayer and hope is being realized in the signing in of Mr. Barack Obama as the 44th President of the United states of America.
My face is soaking wet with tears, my hands are shaking as I write this, and my heart is so full 'till it is welling up and over with love for the American people. You all looked past his color, his roots, and judged him on his abilities and knowledge. I thank you so much for the priviledge of being able to see this decision in action. There are many others who should have seen this day but because of their sacrifices are not here to celebrate what I am honored to celebrate for them and myself.
I really have hope for this country, that I love, more than I have ever had before. I will remember that we put in to fact ... that if we work together we can accomplish great, good things. I used to believe that a long time ago...now I can believe again. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! And, YES WE CAN!
Total Peace, Much Light, and Nothing But Love to You!
I am so ready to get to work on what I can do to help, assist, support, ... whatever! I have a hope now that was hurt badly before but it is healed and ready for the real fight. There is nothing like being inspired!<BR><BR>I have my belief in my Creator which always sustains me. He has sent us a great honor and healing in this moment of history. Please do not waste the gift. We needed this especially for the young who now know why all the histories, accomplishments, and learning for the sake of learning is more important than trying to get by with just the necessities. <BR><BR>Knowing why it is important in all subjects or life situations to be able to build on very strong foundations, because, "We are only as strong as our weakest link," will always be true. <BR><BR>We can determine how to better strengthen our weakest links in our daily lives by raising up our personal standards and in doing so raise up the standards of our nation. Then we will be better able to protect the new found strength found in our oneness<BR><BR>If we just keep trying to... just get by... then one day we might not ... just slip through. <BR><BR>Mr. Obama is right. We have got to really want this, not take this for granted this time, and do the work necessary. Don't you see how quickly the dream of America almost ended??? We cannot afford to ever again take for granted the precious way of life we have here in this Place called America. <BR><BR>"We need to expect the best, give nothing but the best and accept nothing but the best from ourselves and everyone else." (a quote) I try to live up to this standard as much I possibly can do so. It is very hard sometimes. But, I have found the efforts to be well worth the fight. The benefits quite sweet and pleasing. And this 44th Inauguration ... was well worth it.<BR><BR>Peace and Much Love to You.

Oh Livingwell! What a beautiful tribute you have written here. I still haven't gotten over the thrill of yesterdays inauguration. Reading your story here out loud to my husband, I couldn't continue for the tears choking my voice.

You say, "...There are many others who should have seen this day but because of their sacrifices are not here to celebrate what I am honored to celebrate for them and myself. I really have hope for this country, that I love, more than I have ever had before." I feel this way too, even though I am not black, it makes me sad that my own parents did not live to see Barack and Michelle. They would have been so happy at the way America is being given another chance. I think it pained so many of us to see the way things seemed to be sliding backwards. Now just as you say, we have a chance to start over.

I'm eager to do whatever I can too. I think there is a groundswell of community spirit--everyone wanting to do their part and to work together. Its a time of opportunity. May we all continue to keep the spirit!

Congratulations to you and everyone else in the black community who have reason to celebrate this happy occasion, personally! Its wonderful indeed, to have a leader who commands so much respect. I feel deep gratitude. May he be protected and happy as our President!

my jindas your words are music to my soul
just like Barrack...wow...i think the whole world stops and listens when he speaks
im a black woman and my people cried tears of joy and hope along side all the indigenous peoples of the world when Barrack won the presidency.....and today at his inauguration...and the amazing thing was that whitefellas cried with us....
he has amassed a united global consciousness of hope, love and peace....a powerful weapon against dispair, hate and destruction that rules our world a negative force that is waning, while the positivity of hope, love and peace is on the rise
we are coming out of the darkness and chaos
cheers

Livingwell, it is with joy in my heart that I read your story. I grew up in the north, but still at our Murphy's five and dime there was a separate section of the lunch counter. Even when I was 8 years old I knew this was so wrong. Never did I think I would see this day come during my life time, and I am so grateful and filled with awe that it has truly has arrived.

Peace and light and love to you, my sister.

It is truly an historic moment, and my heart is filled with happiness for this long overdue event. Your story is very inspiring. I have the feeling the forces of change are gathering and Mr. Obama is leading the way. I have a good feeling for many good things to come :) Peace and light.

We all must share this sister, all Americans share the horror of slavery, it's aftermath (we lost so much), and now, we are in the midst of change. We have work to do. I am happy you are able to see this day. I am happy that we will both see a better tomorrow.
Thanks, Swanfether for your statements and lovely support. I hope and his family remain safe, protected, and that he can move the country the way he has planned.

Much Love to you SF
