I have loved David Bowie from the first time I heard Space Oddity. It was a weirdly interesting introduction to the legend of David Bowie. He has been a part of my musical life for so many years...but always seems cutting edge, to me...one of the things I love about him..his timeless "cool factor". Anyone else would have made a mess of Let's Dance, turning it into an insipid pop ditty..Bowie filled it with passion, and his unique brand of vocalizing..making it one of the best things ever on pop radio. I still love so many of his songs......Space Oddity and Let's Dance (of course), Fashion, Golden Years, Fame, and the song from whence came the title of this story Ashes to Ashes. "Ashes to ashes , funk to funky , we know Major Tom's a junky, strung out in heaven's high, hitting an all time low....."......
