Everything We Heard About the Trump Voter is Wrong

There is this narrative that the media spreads that Trump won because he excited the white working class and they swarmed to vote for him. Well according to several election studies that just not true.

Items:

Trump’s voters weren’t overwhelmingly poor. In the general election, like the primary, about two thirds of Trump supporters came from the better-off half of the economy….

According to the election study by CNBC, white non-Hispanic voters without college degrees making below the median household income made up only 25 percent of Trump voters. That’s a far cry from the working-class-fueled victory many journalists have imagined.

Add in Nate Silver’s report during the primary showing Trump voters earned an average $72,000 household income — far from rich but it’s also quite far from struggling to earn a living.

All of this chips away at the myth that a tidal wave of non-college, white working class/blue collar workers, who can’t make ends meet, carried trump to his slim electoral victory.

It was the same ones who totally missed the election outcome ... that came up with that theory.

Trump was elected by strong community support in 2,800 of the 3,100 counties in America, in spite of not getting more than 2 votes in all the urban centers combined.

There were no identity politics in motion ... just a simple clean urban -non-urban divide.
Of note ... that slim victory you describe, was the largest coast-to-coast political transfer of power since 1922

Granting GOP control in enough states for constitutional amendments.

Now, including an all-time record high of GOP governors ...

Leaving only 7 state budgets fully in Democrat hands.

With political power in the US held at the county level ... it was a wipeout ... with 90% of counties now in GOP hands.

Hey, it is what it is

Election is over

Time to fold the yard signs

Plenty of time ahead to figure out how to win the votes of all those deplorables ... those people who love God, country, guns, NASCAR, BBQ ...
