I constantly fight the devil on my shoulder!

The bible says we can't fight the devil in our own strength, as he's too strong, however it tells us we can resist the devil and in the name of Jesus and by HIS authority, we can command Satan to leave us alone. But that's not all there is to it.
There are conditions in order for that to work. If one is going to battle the devil's strategies to make us miserable, it is always done through the Spirit, not by our flesh. Spirit recognizes Spirit. We don't wrestle against flesh and blood, but "evil spirits in high places." Heres the verse:
Ephesians 6:12-13 says: “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”
So if we want to defeat Satan on his own ground, in the Spirit, one must first accept Jesus as Savior, so they receive the Holy Spirit, which lives IN each born-again Christian, and does battle for us, when we address Satan in the name and by the authority of Jesus. The devil is not worried about us; but he is terrified of God and His power. Satan ignores our "authority". He laughs at it. But command him in the name of Jesus and by His authority, and he must flee, according to scripture. There is power in the name and blood of Jesus, to break every chain that binds us.
