I Am So Confused

She said she loved me. We went on quite a few dates. She says I'm a great person. We hugged, and kissed, and the whole shabang. I ask her to be my girlfriend and even after all that she says no?

There is a whole story behind it...

Basically she has a friend that... Isn't quite there in the head. She tells me he is clingy and he thinks she is his girlfriend and whatever. she ignores it because she knows he isn't quite there. So this guy is currently serving our country and before he left he gave her something that complicated things even more. He gave her a promise ring to marry her when he can. She didn't say anything whatsoever when she was given it but apparently the guy asked her mom for permission and everything....


She says she said no to me because of that whole situation. She doesn't want me to get hurt and she is sorry....


I am really confused...
