DAY #1: Strong Winds and Following Seas!

ANZ234-140600-
Buzzards Bay-
116 PM EDT Mon May 13 2019

GALE WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM EDT THIS EVENING

THIS AFTERNOON
E winds 20 to 25 kt with gusts up to 30 kt. Seas 3 to 5 ft. Rain.

TONIGHT
NE winds 20 to 25 kt, diminishing to 15 to 20 kt after midnight. Gusts up to 30 kt. Seas 3 to 5 ft. Patchy fog. Rain. Vsby 1 to 3 NM.

Cleared Woods Hole a couple hours ago and currently running downwind along the western shore of Buzzards Bay with just the storm jib up. Seas are a bit crazy and the boat is surfing down the back side of the swells. Given the forecast, there won't be any night sailing tonight. I'll set in somewhere, likely around Newport, and drop anchor for the evening. Rain is steady, visibility about a mile.

Very rough outline of today's sail (75nm)

That doesn't sound like fun, bouncing all over the deck fear of going overboard 😱

@SW-User Hahaha, actually, it is a ton of fun. And I'm not bouncing around anywhere. I am secure at the helm with a safety harness and a vest at the moment. And, btw, it is VERY rare for me to put on a vest when sailing, but current conditions call for it.

@sarabee1995 ok you're strapped in, good! Don't want something happening to you :)

@SW-User If there is any place where I am safe and secure, it is at the helm of my girl here. She and I are one and we are currently in the loving embrace of the sea. The sea knows me and I know her. We have great respect for each other for she is in me and I am of her. We are one.

@sarabee1995 may the strong winds take you ladies where you want to go :)

@SW-User Oh they very much are. The wind is almost directly at our back. If it was just a little less wind, I would raise the main and really fly.
