Why do people put up posts and then delete comments that have evidence that they are wrong?

How isolated do you have to be that actual proof hurts your ego enough you have to delete it?

Because most people just want an echo chamber, deep down. They want their views to be validated. They're not interested in a challenge. A challenge to their opinions makes them insecure, especially if they don't know how to address it, so it's better to simply delete it.
