Why do people put up posts and then delete comments that have evidence that they are wrong?

How isolated do you have to be that actual proof hurts your ego enough you have to delete it?

Labels, insults, and extraneous, off topic rants don't make the OP wrong. I delete those types of comments to promote Joe Biden's "United America" campaign.
