I Worry About The Future Of Democracy

So I am brought up to believe in democracy and to believe in Taiwan as the Republic of China. But I am worry now that my country is perhaps not long before is brought to part of China (PRC). It is not easy to stand for principle of democracy when there is pressure from big power to accept money and promise of better future, perhaps is going to be difficult times and decision to make.

Yes, that is a tough situation for Taiwan indeed. Do you think a confederation might a solution?

@Mugin16 it might be, i think it will be same situation as Honk Kong, perhaps autonomous region of China

@TaiduGirl That might a solution. The PRC could be responsible for defense, foreign policy, trade and Taipeh for everything else.

@Mugin16 Is perhaps sensible solution yes, but of course maybe means to give up some things in Taiwan.

@TaiduGirl Yes, that would it mean. But Maybe it is better to lose some things than everything.

@Mugin16 yes China is big power of course, and lot of money to make people want to leave Taiwan, also to make sanction on some things, is not make it easy
