I Miss The Way Things Used To Be

I miss the times when you could read or watch news without the feeling you are lied all the time ( at least they cared not to lie too blatantly).

I miss the times when quality is what mattered in a movie, not how many female/black/LGBT chatacters appear.

I miss the times when people were on tv because they were famous, not the other way around.

I miss the times when crowds were a nuisance but not a source of fear

I miss the times when nostalgia did nor have its roots in the lack of common sense.

Thank you for your concern, Nik. I know that nostalgia may be dangerous, and do not want to be blind thinking the past was better than it really is. It is the last sentence in my post, the lack of common sense what I really miss.
Others may say that these times are more commonsensical than past ones. It is their opinion and I respect it.

Novembermoon, you are so right. This morning, while walking in my small city, I spotted a plastic bag next to a bank door. Instinctively I moved to the opposite sidewalk. Stupid, I know, but it shows to which extent fear reigns now.

I understand this, but I also know that at "those times" there were other things people missed. There will always be the things people miss. I have a list of them myself. But we can't have them back and focusing on what we miss about days gone by can blind us to the things about today that someday someone will say they miss. I don't want that for you. Ok Cierzo? I'm not trying to sound pushy. It just worries me.

The post yes, the thoughts probably not.

Things have indeed changed. Crowds are indeed scary now. And with all sorts of crazy people on the loose, anything can happen. And politicians are just going to say some words and fly flags at half mast and that's all they do.

Me too, and I fear it will only get worse?!😞👎🏼
