Yes that was a problem, could only get away with " dog ate homework" once, not that we had a dog, problem were when got older and went out at week-ends, come sunday evening , loads to do, sometimes it was a case of what teacher canes the hardest for not doing homework, if playing hockey for the school on saturdays some teachers would give you a day extra

@dorothyanne. For us it was the slipper but the same logic applied - which teacher was more likely to slipper us for not having our homework done. Some just told us to bring it to the next lesson so homework they set tended to be left until last.

I shall always remeber the daily routine of coming home from school, doing my homework as soon as I arrived home. After the homework was done, then chores. After chores it was outside to play, home for dinner, more outside playing, and then returning home for the evening after the street lights came on. Such a simpler time in my life.
