I Want To Know Where Real Journalism Has Gone

In Britain, politicians were occasionally interviewed on the street, but more often in TV studios. There seems to be a new approach, particularly over the past seven days, where television journalists stand outside politician's front doors in the morning and film them as they walk to their car. No questions are ever answered, but the footage then appears on the news anyway. Why is it in the public interest to see Jeremy Corbyn walk up his garden, then get in his car and go to work each day?

Haha, it sort of sounds like what they do with the Kardashians

"Where's Kanye, Jeremy?"

Reality TV.... (and as someone suggested paparazzi) News casts are degenerating into a sort of Jerry Springer chaos - pandering to the lowest common denominator. Also, do you ever wonder if it is on purpose? So politicians start making a lot of noise about GUNS ... and the news is covering these outspoken agents of our civil liberties.. .meanwhile, no one was talking about the supreme course nominee and how Obama's choice was blocked. I just find it interesting- those important issues that never garner coverage. How can no one seriously think they are important? Seriously? We are going to cover you tube videos but we are going to ignore critical legislation being passed? How did that get swept under the rug, and you see it time and again. I wish I could think of a better example here but my mind is blank.

@Lemons: None of them have houses like I would have expected. It's weird, isn't it? Like seeing your hero in the supermarket with a trolley full of Pot Noodles.

Let's hope this...'Kardashianisation' in journalism is not contagious, that other countries won't follow this too...it's ridiculous.
Well I wouldn't say it's really really filthy but for the age it's no good, well saying that I'm knocking a little and maybe that's the norm for that age but if they were my kids they wouldn't be talking like that , that's what I think and I'm a little like urself " old fashioned " and I have manners but I can be a real twat for those little shytes that talk the " street " lingo . Lol anyway I'm gonna go get a bite to eat and shall bump into u no doubt :) sees u soon or c u around glass dog 👍🏼😊
we call them paparazzi - they sell the photos and films for a big money- Kardashian stuff😕

Cosreal: I knew there'd be retaliation from when we tried to offload Piers Morgan on you!
GlassDog · 41-45, M
US: Oh my God. I never thought of that. It's the Kardashianisation of mainstream journalism! :/
unless they are really paparazzi just looking for film and pics?

I had no idea Vent was like that. I guess one of the benefits about having to choose a new place to be is that people go to the community that suits them. There are probably lots of people on EP who preferred things to be like Vent. They can go there and get what they want, and we get a more peaceful site here without them. :)

Merika is spreading its disease. ]:

That sir, is the confirmation of the transformation of journalism to paparazzi.
GlassDog · 41-45, M
@wonderstruck: The media coverage of US politics is quite interesting to me because we are usually just five years behind you on media trends.
wonderstruck · 31-35, M
One of our candidates is a master at media communication. Unfortunately the two choices of candidates this year for president are the sourest in my lifetime. Nothing has been worse since this election. You're rolling the dice on the country's fate no matter who you vote for president.
GlassDog · 41-45, M
@wonderstruck: He is. A British journalist was saying yesterday that, in person, he's very charming and personable, but that he turns into a media monster when a camera is turned on him. Hillary seems exactly the opposite. She's well-meaning but creates such a poor public image. Neither of them bode well for American relations with the rest of the world. I'm not saying a president has to be a diplomat, but it helped that Obama and Bill Clinton clearly are/were.
The navigation is a little so but its expected if it's in process of been built but yess Iv made about 6 friends and they are all previous from me too :) I'm quite excited myself to be honest because Iv been away from the net and I never gave my email details out because I thought one network would be up for everyone to move over too but that never happen but it's all good :) stay well away from vent , kids and more kids and they are full of crap and vulgar sexual behaviour! That's not me and I find it quite disgusting , that's my initial thought :)

GlassDog · 41-45, M
@Lemons: I think he gets £75k. I wouldn't turn my nose up at that, although nah, it's not a lot comparatively.

Awful garden though innit..
GlassDog · 41-45, M
You deserved that. :P
GlassDog · 41-45, M
@Georgimy Yeah, I tried a couple of the others too, while this place was being built. They just didn't feel right, but I really like it here. Actually, more than I liked EP. Plus every day, another of the people I liked on EP turn up here. Today, it's you. :)
SW-User
Dunno what houses cost in London..but I suppose his house matches the unkempt appearance of the man himself. I expect Teresa may has David Austin roses round the door.
SW-User
I don't think politicians are that well paid though are they?? And I suppose they work all hours so it's wrong to judge (but I can't help it)
SW-User
😫please don't tell me you're fantasising about Corbyn in leopard skin shoes
GlassDog · 41-45, M
Well, it's a step up from Michael Foot in stockings! :O
Hedonic journalistic treadmill. People get high on this stuff.
SW-User
