I Love Leonard Cohen
Many know him from Hallelujah, Suzanne, The Future, So Long Marianne...
Would you believe someone who also wrote 'Don't go Home With Your Hard-On' got the Order of Canada. Everyone knows (pun intended) it won't be for this song directly.
It was more his girth of wisdom, and what he offered. And anyone knows Cohen, knows he was very seriously into drugs when he wrote this. Yet, this one does offer a unique way of looking at things, and while Leonard renounced a lot in his life, he speaks some of the torment he went through which also displays his mastery.
And what so many love of him, also comes from this part of him. It's why I can never agree entirely with someone that takes an entirely puristic idea of morality that ends up in slander. Life is much more than that.
And often that anger is based in things they didn't experience. I never heard Leonard slander anyone, no matter how he destroyed himself for a time.
