I’m going to make this post mostly in reference to my childhood in comparison to now. I miss...
1. The video store that used to exist next door from where I work. My mum almost never borrowed any movies from there though. It had a single horse carousel you put quarters in. Now one of the added rooms that connected to the video store is used for storing extra materials in bulk where I work and to add to the nostalgia one of my coworkers hung up a ‘movie returns’ sign in the window that they found buried in the back. 2. Our old elementary school playground. It was all made out of wood back then but a couple years after I left elementary they tore it down and replaced it with basic plastic equipment.
3. Computer labs. I’m probably the last generation that remembers when you had to go to a designated room to use one.
4. Scholastic book fairs and ordering booklets. It was always hard to abide by my mums 3-4 book limit, depending on how much they cost.
5. The old Furbies. The new ones are just so overrated.
6. 90s Nickelodeon shows. Particularly Hey Arnold! Drake and Josh, etc. 7. Older computer games like Freddi Fish put out by Humongous Entertainment.
8. Practically never seeing people walking around with mobile phones until I was literally about 10 years old. 🤣 9. Sitting on the bus in the morning and using my portable CD player with headphones.
