How concerned should I be?

My brother tested positive for COVID. He was exposed on Wednesday, and found out that the people he was around tested positive Saturday. My brother started showing symptoms yesterday such as a cough and congestion, and tested positive today. He’s been around my mom and me. My mom is very high risk. She has lupus, lung problems, (she sleeps with an oxygen tank) raynaud’s, (poor circulation related to her lupus, from what I understand) and is 60 years old. She caught the flu when I was ten, and was hospitalized with a pulmonary embolism after having the flu. She ate after my brother the other day when we assumed he wasn’t positive. Neither my mom or I are showing symptoms as of right now. How worried should I be about my mom? My mom and I are both getting tested tomorrow, to be safe.

Bud, there are some factors you can control and some factors you just can't. It sounds like you're doing your due diligence (assuming you're quarantining), and how it turns out having done that is a roll of the dice. I wish you the absolute best.
Certainly trying. Thanks 😊 @BlueVeins
My roommate had it and we were both under house arrest for 2 weeks and I never got it. Hopefully you guys have the same luck!
@SooperSarah I certainly hope we don’t catch it!! I’m glad you were lucky and didn’t catch it either! I hope your roommate is doing well! 😊
@marilynmichelle she's doing great. Other than losing her sense of smell and taste she thought it was just allergies.
That’s good to hear! @SooperSarah

I'd keep an eye on her and make sure she does get tested. COVID could be really bad for her. Stay safe ok? :( *hugs*
@Ksmile14 That’s certainly the plan. We’re going to contact her doctor first thing tomorrow and both get tested.

Its strange, I know a guy that his parents both had it, his girlfriend and her two kids and his daughter.
He was around them all and has never got it.
@Virgo79 it really is! I know someone whose boyfriend had it multiple times who she’s been in close contact with, and she never got it.

You should keep very close tabs on your mom and take her to the doctor or hospital if she shows any symptoms.
That’s the plan. We’re going to contact her doctor in the morning and both get tested. @DCarey
