What quality in your parents did you appreciate the most?

What did your parents do best? For me, I would point out that they have always been supportive of me, even when I've had problems or chosen a life path that is different from their own. I've always felt encouraged by them and never doubted that they have my back and love me. No parents are perfect, but I hope you can think of something good that they did.

I respected that they always presented a united front when we were kids. None of us could ever play one against the other. Sometimes they would go “talk it over”, return and reverse a decision they’d made. But they never let us see that they’d disagreed on something they told us. I really appreciate that now, having seen my friends quarrel about one saying “yes” to the kids after the other had already told them “no”. With my parents, after one told us “no”, we knew better than to ask the other.

@bijouxbroussard My parents were always very consistent as well. They have different personalities; my dad has always been more laid-back and more permissive, but they never "contradicted each other" like you see in sitcoms. Despite their different personalities they got along well and made decisions together.

@bijouxbroussard My mother had two answers. "Yes" and "Ask your father."
