For what it's worth, here's my contribution, using all 6 words...

I once saw an interview with playwright Arthur Miller in which he stated that "most human enterprises don't turn out very well".

This was quite a while ago (Miller passed away in 2005) and I remember very little of the interview, but that statement made me stop and take notice. I think I was struck by the comment because it was in sync with the pessimistic view I had of the world back then.

I still believe Miller was basically correct, but perhaps not to the degree I once did.

From what I've learned since that time, things sometimes work better than we think they do. Our perception gets distorted because successes often happen quietly and without any acknowledgement, while screw-ups tend to get a lot of attention. We're quick to shout our displeasure about the failures but frequently don't have much to say when all goes well.

I'd also like to add that when you consider the big, wide universe of things that can go wrong in any number of undertakings, it's almost a miracle that even our most difficult endeavors turn out as well as they sometimes do.

@BexEyes Thank you. I really appreciate you saying that.

I like your realness. Can be good to have a little pessimism if you will - sounds like reality. Good and bad both happen and exist.
Good story 👍️

Interesting. While I think it’s easy to take a pessimistic view, and I’ve certainly traveled that path at times, I try to be more positive and hopeful than cynical and jaded. I still believe in finding the good in people and situations while living in reality. My glasses are no longer rose-colored, but I do believe there are good people in this world who achieve great things, even, and more often than not, quietly.

Thank you for the thought-provoking post.

I really love the way you make me think with your posts. They are always deeply reflective, yet they are written in such an unassuming manner that it just makes one feel like they are having a casual conversation with a friend. Thanks so much for sharing! ☺

You always have such interesting posts...thank you for sharing this with us.

I will confess that I was once a pessimist...but I have learned with the help of my husband and kids to look at all the positives in my life.

Even the act of conception and birth is a miracle in itself. All the things that could possibly go wrong and it doesn't. Incredible.
It sounds like Arthur Miller spoke some wise words.
Rutterman · 46-50, M
@pennynoodles Very true. You've spoken some wise words yourself.

Yes, negative happenings seem to get the most attention.😔Just goes to show us what kind of planet we are living on.🌏️💥😯 They could have moved the camera around more on the moon landing so we could have seen all the structures there and the aliens.👽️ 😜 Nice story Danny, thanks!

You really put me on the spot with this one.
"You don't get praised for doing what you're supposed to"
"Planning a crime there are a thousand things you'll overlook"
Johnny Spot is just a vessel.

The Moon is Fake News!

I don't believe in the Moon.

Rutterman · 46-50, M
@JoyfulSilence Yes, of course, and the moon landing was a hoax. You can read all about it here...
