@anderst she I was very small, my mom would remove my pants and undies from off my bottom and lay me face down on her lap.
Once she lubed my bottom and the to of the thermometer, she would insert it ever so carefully an inch or so into my rectum.
Then came my favorite part. During the 4 minutes it took to take a reading, she'd rest her warm hand on my bottom with the thermometer between her middle and index fingers. This would help me to relax knowing she wasn't going to hurt me.
In my day, most all children got rectal temps and shots in the but so that was only natural for us to immulate this in our play.
Of course such play was taboo given the morality and modesty issues of the day.
Knowing this, we'd play behind closed doors, in basements, attics and any other secluded place we could find. We were rarely caught but when we were the consequences were dire!

@11knaves11 I’m not ashamed or embarrassed to admit that I had my temp taken rectal as a child and teen and that I still take my temperature rectally today! It is THE BEST AND MOST ACCURATE WAY! I only take my temperature rectal….always have and I always will!
