I Am Not Lucky But I Am Blessed
I walk into a furniture store today
It was once a mobile home supply .parts and material .
The lady that asked could she wait on us was very pretty and very pleasant,
Not looking down on either of us because we were in work clothes and we had been working ,she treated us as good as I sure she would treat any other paying customer.
I ask if she can direct us to where they have trim ,crown molding and baseboards ,
I could see all the amazing furniture ,but I keep hearing a commercial on the radio saying the same company has sheet rock and other home repair supplies at a discount price ( I normally buy damaged sheet rock because when I am done with it its no longer damaged ,and its a lot cheaper ) .
She said we were at the wrong building but asks if I do home repair ,
A month ago I would have said NO..but I explained to her I was just doing a remodeling job for my son in law that I am actually retired /disabled
She says thats such a shame ,she has a small job but she doesn't know anyone that she can call on to do it ,she knows the larger dry wall companies aren't interested in her small job .
I joke this job was only suppose to be a few little patch's (holes knocked in the walls )and I am good at making holes disappear but the small job just keeps growing but "God has enabled me to do more then I thought I was able to do .
(I have been inactive for quite sometimes and that I was holding up to do the work keeps amazing me every day it goes on ,and keep turning into more and more work)
Since I mentioned God ,she tells me she also volunteers at a place that helps the needy at holidays ..and if we know of anyone that could use a turkey and all the trimmings for the holidays but can't afford it ,to have them call her and she gives me her card.
She asks if by any chance my son in law can repair dry wall and I say no thats why he asked me to do the patch's .he knows I am disabled ,,but I can still do quality work I just feel I am to slow to keep doing it as a business there are a lot of faster repairmen out there but my son in law is willing to wait ,he knows I will at least do the job right ,but he owns a landscaping and lawn mowing service ,,full service ...
Turns out ,She needs a landscaper as well ,but he needs to have a tractor because the brush has overgrown ,and they would need a bush hog .
Well it just so happens ,my son in law has all the equipment she could need
So she asks if he can come Friday and give her an estimate ,but unless he is totally unreasonable ,come prepared to do the job ,she just has a good feeling about the 2 of us ,(The Holy Spirit is good like that ,one spirit connecting right away to another )
SO since my son in law is going ,I may as well take some fast drying joint compound
and while my son in law is cutting the lawn I can go ahead and knock out her little job for her .
Because she helps others ,my son in law and I have already made up our minds to help her .give her a price for both jobs she can't refuse
(My son in law says "You are rubbing off on me Dad ,I am in business ,I don't normally work for anyone for free "
Since she already said she wished she was rich so she could do nothing but help people ,,well thats what my family does too (not just anyone begging for hand outs ,but you can tell when you have done it as long as I have the ones that actually have a need from the ones just wanting a hand out ,and this lady has already said she is willing to pay well for a good job )
We never got the molding we went after ,the place was closed today
But I think people come in and out of our lives for a reason
If she is willing to pay for the fuel (and I am sure she will be )
She just met 2 angels that plan to bless her
She helps others for free ,its her turn
And you never know how much business she can send my son in laws way by word of mouth
I myself .I am not looking for anymore work ,but I never have to many friends
Especially one who is a servant as my family and I are
I took the job for my son in law to show him Dad always looks after his family
but through it all he and I have got a lot closer ,
Now he will get to see ,,I also put my talents where my mouth is
Our walk is not just one of talk
That lady has been sowing ,now I just feel lead ,its her reap a blessing too .
My son in law doesn't know yet ,,I am not charging him for my labor either .
