I Love My Hair

I have long, resilient, thick yet silky Native American hair. I've always worn my hair proudly and feel it's become my defining physical feature by default. One's hair actually has some significance in my culture. It's associated with having a strong cultural identity and is an embodiment of who we are as a people. No matter how hot it makes my scalp during the Summer or how hard it might be to take care of sometimes, I'll never get rid of my hair. 馃槍

Do you speak your native language?
PerchingDoveF
@owned I speak a trade language that was used by various tribes in my region, but not fluently.

@PerchingDove What do you mean by trade language?
PerchingDoveF
@owned A common language used to communicate since every tribe spoke a different language back then. Most if not all of those languages are lost today, unfortunately.

@PerchingDove Learn it the best you can and make sure you teach it to your children. If you don't, the language may be lost completely.
