I Believe In Love and Human Connection

I do. Absolutely. If you’ve read any of my posts, you already know that.

However, I don’t believe there is one, true, soulmate for us somewhere out there. I don’t believe in perfection. I don’t believe in someone completing us. I think we have to be our own complete person, not expect someone to be that missing piece of us. Not expect someone to make us happy, but hope to find someone we’re happy being with and they’re happy being with us.

I think we have to do our best to live a life we love for ourselves, without intentionally hurting others.

I believe we meet soulmates throughout our lifetime - friends, lovers, mentors - people our souls recognize. I believe in love and human connection but not in one, perfectly suited person for each of us.

Having said that, I do believe in pretty damn close to perfect for us, and those connections are rare. Incredible, but rare, and sometimes heartbreaking. But how else would we learn and grow spiritually, emotionally, compassionately? How else would we fully learn what it means to love and be loved? ❤️

I also don’t think love is hard work, not really, but the rest of this quote is spot on for me.

“No other person on this planet was made for you; they were made for themselves.
Love is all about choices.
No one is going to be perfect for you, and I think we need to stop raising everyone on the belief that someone out there, just one other person in the whole world was ‘made for you’ because it isn’t true.
No one is made for you besides you. Other people belong to themselves.
If you want to make it work with someone, it’s about hard work, understanding, compassion, communication, and choice.”

i think it's less about work than commitment. Only by committing to something bigger than ourselves do we really ever evolve into something higher.
