I Am a Survivor of Domestic Violence

[big][c=#BF0000]Maniac[/c][/big]

I saw this question on AM: Have you ever had a loaded gun pointed at you?

It brought back a memory from my early 20s, when someone I was dating turned out to be a maniac, and actually did point a loaded gun at me...well one of my feet to be precise.

We were at a party held by his family (whom I later found out were all terrified of him), I don't recall why he got mad at me because anything could set him off. All I remember was being pushed out of the living room door, falling flat on my back with one of my feet still in the living room. He proceeded to close the door on my ankle to crush it. I was screaming and not one person helped me...probably because they knew something I did not...he was armed and dangerous. He then pulled a gun out and aimed it at my foot.

After that everything is a blur, except for me standing on the stairs in the hallway and him punching me right between my eyes. I saw stars. I recall thinking, " these are stars like what you see in cartoons when someone is punched." I never knew that people actually saw stars when they were punched, but I knew then, it was true.

I don't recall if the punch was before or after the foot business, but I do recall the black eye I had and explaining to my family that I bumped into a tree.

I don't know for sure, but years later, I heard that he had spent time in prison...not surprising...and another story was his mind had become like a vegetable. How factual, I don't know, because I never kept contact. To be honest, I spent a couple of years looking over my shoulder, he scared me so much.

This is one of many "strange" experiences in my life. I've always thought my life was boring because I'm so traditional, but as I look back, I realize I could write a book on the events I've experienced.

Glad you made it out of that. You have given me a lot of great advice. Glad you are around. What happened to him?
