I Am a Survivor of Domestic Violence
Since my accident, I don't have a good memory. But there are still some that wake me up at night, and some I can never forget.
I remember my ex, and how lazy he was. I remember how he'd often ask me to do things for him. This one particular day he was playing FIFA, and losing. He was punching walls til his fists were bloody. I was scared of course, but I remained quiet. He had asked me to get him a drink. I was more than happy to, but when I came back he'd moved the xbox cords around. I tripped over one, and unplugged it. He had stopped playing, and was on his laptop but he immediately stopped and got this look on his face. He picked up the laptop, and threw it at my knees. I went down and my jaw collided with the bedpost. The drink I had gotten him spilt and that seemed to piss him off more. He grabbed the glass and smashed it into the side of my face. It wasn't long before I could feel the swelling and the warmth spreading down the side of my face. He had split my eyelid open, and my lips. He continued to beat me with his fists, pulling hair out of my scalp.
He then picked up ceramic bowl from earlier and smashed that into my head a couple of times. It split my skull open.
I was left on that ground, and was damn lucky that I had a counselor ring up to check on me. When I didn't answer, as he'd busted my phone she drove around herself. He was arrested and charged for it, but it left me with permanent brain damage and other issues. I can only be grateful that I am no longer in that relationship.
