I Write Songs

With the sun in my eyes and a radiant heart,
I look out across the water.
The rising sun is beaming down,
As the day grows slowly hotter.

The cheerful chirping of the birds,
Remind me of your song.
Delighted and entranced I whistle myself
As I try to sing along.

Though, try as I might, I just can't seem,
To match their cheerful tune.
Ah, but they don't care, it seems to me,
About my uneven croon

The sunny sky, the sparking lake,
intoxicating to me.
You could travel 'round the world, and never find,
a more tranquil place to be.

Is there anything better in the summer than just lazing by a body of water?

I agree one hundred percent with this query:

"Is there anything better in the summer than just lazing by a body of water?"

I feel so at peace near water.

Same - I could sit in a comfortable chair on the beach and watch the waves roll in and out all day long! @BexEyes

@MildlyInappropriate Or in Texas...get a short lawn chair and sit it directly in the rocky bed river...it is heaven.

Oh, we do that in Ohio as well - river bed, beach at a reservoir, no shame in my water chair game!

*forgot to mention, throw in a couple cold beers, or a nice bottle of wine, and I'm set!

I'm in! We can have a meet up for the cool kids here (no haterz, pleez): http://parks.ohiodnr.gov/mohican

I've spend many summer days canoeing, kayaking, and just lazing in that river as a camper...@BexEyes

@MildlyInappropriate That looks ABSOLUTELY gorgeous. I adore canoeing and kayaking. I bought a pair of small "sit-on top" kayaks a few years ago. They are so fun!

There are several campgrounds around the state park area, we used to go there with the kids when they were little. The adults would sit around a fire the whole time, watching the river roll by, while the kids rode their bikes all over tarnation.

Good times!

Now I mostly sit around a fire pit that is built into the table on my back patio :)
