Nostalgia

Remember the days when we were young
Our lives laid out before us?
Sometimes we played a leading role,
Other times, we joined the chorus.

We weren't consumed by material needs,
Our tastes were simpler then:
A worm on a hook, a baseball glove,
Or just a bike ride with my friend.

You may say I'm nostalgic,
and my heart lives in the past.
But I'm satisfied with how things turned out,
I just wish time didn't go so fast.

Time does indeed, go so quickly!

Something that I share with others on occasion for consideration is this little math fact: each day that you live is a smaller percentage of your total life than the day before. E.g., when you are born, and you are one day old, that is 100% of your life, whereas the next day is merely 50%. By the time you've made it to my age, each individual day has become a very small percentage, so my PERCEPTION of the passage of time is likely affected by the accumulation of all the days preceding.

Of course, I'm a musician and not a mathematician (or a philosopher, for that matter) so take all that with the grain of salt warranted. ;) @BexEyes

@MildlyInappropriate I beg to differ, you are definitely a philosopher. 😌
