I Go to a Boarding School

Over the weekend, one of the beds in our house got broken because someone had been bouncing on it 😕 Accidents happen, but no one will own up or take responsibility for this accident.

So the whole house has been collectively punished. Bedtime has been moved forward an hour to 8:30pm and privileges are suspended 😟

We know who did it, but we are waiting for that girl to tell the truth and for her housemates to stop covering up for her 🐻 It is important that they all learn a lesson about honesty and responsibility 🐻

I just hope she does it soon. The next privilege to be lost will be the care of the two house guinea pigs, Nutmeg and Daisy. Guess whose room they will be sleeping in if their cage is removed from the dormitories 🙄

I went to a boarding school for most of my school life, and I hated it for the reason you mentioned. I was continually suffering collective punishment due to the mistakes of others. I think it's a disgusting way for adults to treat children and I actually have the same issue in my work place now. Lazy management who can't deal with one employees issues, punish the whole department.

@SW-User It can be a lazy and weak way of exercising discipline. But I think it is right in this instance because we talked about it in our house meeting and still no one will tell the truth. That is more serious than breaking the bed, which was minor in itself 😟

@TammieBear It's up to the person responsible to tell the truth, and the rest of you shouldn't be punished because of that. That would be like the police punishing everyone in your neighbourhood because one person living there broke the law and didn't own up.
