My bf would like me to take a small loan on my name and give him half of the money when I get it. We would both pay half the monthly installments.

This is such a bad idea .... why can't he get the loan himself ?? ... bad credit ?? ... can't make the payments ?? .... this is a great way to ruin your own credit rating .... and don't cosign for him either.
