Side note: Well, at least I have an advantage and I get to get discounts because I do have a student card!

I used to have this experience, in a slightly more annoying form, which is to say, having to prove my age in pubs whenever I went in, right up til I was 30-ish (and the drinking age was 18!). Given that pubs were/are the major vehicle of social interaction in the society I was living in, it got a little wearying.
