I Miss My Dog

He was my world! Even after a year it still feels unreal that I won't see him again. Sometimes when it hits me it becomes hard to breathe.

Sorry. Had a Chesapeake Bay Retriever. He was my shadow for almost 16 years. Had heart problem but with meds he was strong as an ox. He would run with a neighbor and do two miles each evening. When he was dying I sat and layed with him for two days and nights. He waited till I ran inside early the third day and when I came back he had died. You could have cut off my right arm and I wouldn't have felt as bad as losing my best friend. Still tears my eyes right now and he is gone for almost ten years.
I can tell you something weird about his death. One night I was on my front porch to smoke a cigarette, and you can believe me or not but I had a voice come to me that said, "Don't worry, I have him. " talked to wifes minister and he said that some things in the Bible say no but there is a part that does say that some animal spirits do go to the next world after death. I hope so, I would love to see him again if I get there.

Wow, the two most intelligent breeds rolled into one! And hehe, yeah, I love the feistiness of Jack Russells. It's like they don't believe they're small dogs.

I'd love another dog but I live on my own and it wouldn't be fair. If I meet someone and we live together, I would, though. It's such a quite house without a dog in it.

@GlassDog, you're right, it's only fair on the dog if you can give it all the love and attention it deserves. A house does feel empty without a dog though! Yes, Jack Russells are very cheeky! They definitely think they're big dogs and are more than willing to take on any big dogs they encounter!! x

Me too. When I woke up at 6am to let her out into the garden, it was always a horrible realisation that she no longer needed to be let out. There were so many reminders, like her toys, and her bowl, and her collar. Dogs leave such a hole when they go, but I guess this only proves just how much we loved them.

We get to be with certain spirits while we are here and we need to treat them as equals. He was a dog but he learned things I have never known a dog to know. I have trained all the family dogs since I was a kid. Chester was my first dog that was my friend and not someone elses.

Yeah, they're definitely worth it. This is the first time in my life without a dog and I feel lost. I always had Jack Russells. What about you?
