I Am Prone to Inappropriate Laughter

And I'm constantly apologizing for it. I actually hate to see people fall or have embarrassing moments. Because it doesn't matter how hard i try i always end up laughing or smiling. I always make sure they're okay and then walk away as fast as i can so they don't see me. Ugh. What's wrong with me.
I am usually someone who would think, how mean! how childish! However, I recall a phone call from my sister-in-law who was talking funny and when she told me she'd been using a hammer, yanking the nail out of the wall they'd tethered their Christmas tree to (to keep it from falling over in a house with three small boys, two dogs and a cat) and the head pulled off. The hammer, of course, slammed back into her mouth. I still don't know why it struck me as the most hilarious thing I'd ever heard.

I was so ashamed. I can relate,

I have the same problem....one has the choice of laughing at life's foibles and tragedies....or let them eat you alive. Laughter is a great coping mechanism....but you should be prepared to run very fast or defend yourself.

My best friend does this too. She's a wonderful person and friend and she can't control it either. She has a few other quirky behaviors too. She has adult adhd, she's hyper, but not as bad as she used to be since she is now 61.I got hit in the head with a horseshoe while at neighborhood cook out, the guys were playing horseshoes, every one there was so upset and horrified that I was really hurt. She was sitting beside me giggling and laughing!
