First fire in my new home

My fur-baby and I enjoyed snuggles by our new fireplace for the first time on this chilly day. 🤗 It’s also the first time I have personally gotten a good fire going (I’ve mostly had gas fireplaces), so I’m enjoying it twice as much.

Have you inspected the chimney? A house near us had a chimney fire yesterday . We keep a chimfex fire stick by the wood stove just in case

@kodiac Thank you so much! Yes, I had the chimney inspected first. Unfortunately, my grandmother’s house burned down around the time I was born, so a house fire is very much a concern of mine.

@kodiac Thank you - and thank you for your concern! I sure hope your neighbors are ok and get support during this time - it is such a major loss, and during a pandemic with the holidays right around the corner. I will definitely say prayers for them!

@MilkyMe They were lucky only the chimney and wood stove were destroyed.Having one of those chimfex sticks is a good idea, you just throw it in the fireplace and it will put out a chimney fire.My woodstove is fired up today and it's toasty in here !
