I Ran a Half Marathon

I ran my one and only half marathon a number of years ago. I had been running 2 to 4 miles a day, 6 days a week, and found this training program to train up for it. I wanted to do it in under two hours and figured out my pace would need to be 9:10 per mile the entire way to accomplish that. The only thing was, in my long runs the fastest I got was 9:30 average.

On race day it was a beautiful sunny September morning, not too hot. The course was amazing with 4 covered bridges we ran under. My first mile was 9:20 but I felt good so I picked up the pace. By mile 6, I thought I might actually be able to do it. I ended up finishing at 1:57:58 and it was one of the best feelings ever.

I totally paid the price, however, for the 30 miles per week training on pavement, so I'm now back to 10K's or less. But I'll always have that time I reached a difficult goal I had set.
