I managed to develop a taste for certain brands of soap as a kid, even now, whenever we have Pears Translucent soap I will have a lick of it just for the nostalgia

can't remember being spanked as well, although I did for other things. Mostly I think it was one punishment for one offence, I don't claim to have perfect recall though.

@updown2020 hairbrush or various other implements over clothes, but open hand on bare skin. Not sure how it was decided, maybe it just depended if there was a suitable instrument of correction close to hand.
