You get the sense that there was a lot to Venezia, Venice, when she was at the heights of power and fame. Each leading mercantile family built themselves a palace in the canals and then lent their influence to making the city what it became in governance.
Behind Saint Mark's Square there is a truly beautiful little church, called Saint Zulian's. I have been there before and I enjoyed taking my mother there too, this morning. We are exploring much and enjoying the glories of the city.
